Membership

What is church membership?

Church membership is the formal commitment to being part of a specific Christian community. It involves actively participating in the life of the church, including worship, serving, and building relationships with other members. Membership typically signifies a person's commitment to the church’s beliefs, values, and mission, and it often includes responsibilities such as supporting the church financially, participating in its activities, and growing in faith through discipleship. It is also a way for the church to recognize and care for its members, providing spiritual support and accountability.

Who is membership for?

Church membership is for anyone who has made a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ and wants to be part of a community of believers. It is for individuals who are seeking to grow in their faith, contribute to the mission of the church, and engage in mutual support and accountability with others. Membership is typically for those who are ready to commit to a specific local church, align with its beliefs and values, and actively participate in its life through worship, service, and community. While the invitation is open to anyone, membership is often a step for those who are dedicated to a deeper, ongoing relationship with the church and its mission.

What does membership at Crossroads look like?

Membership at Crossroads really boils down to a few things we ask of you:
1)  You have a clear testimony of a transformed life because of your belief in what Jesus did for you through his death, burial, and resurrection.  You have and are presently committed to following Jesus Christ with your life of obedience which includes regularly attending our local church gatherings on Sunday mornings.

2)  You are committed to being a part of this church community.  This means you are willing to be held accountable and help others be accountable to living a life that represents Jesus Christ well to everyone around.  In our context, this also means getting plugged into “doing life” with others in a smaller group context, like bible studies, community groups, target groups, or similar offerings.  It is choosing to know others and be known by others, then putting that into practice.

3)  You are committed to serving by using not only natural abilities and talents but, even more so, utilizing your spiritual gift to build up this local congregation.  Your spiritual gift is needed to impact the lives of those around you, so membership states you will get help discovering and then utilizing what God has uniquely given you to help this local church.

4)  You are choosing, if you haven’t already done so, to regularly give your tithes and offerings to further the ministry of this local body.

In short, it is committing your time, energy, and resources to enhance the ministries of this local church to glorify God.

It is saying “I’m all in” to the vision, mission, and core values in tangible ways.

How does membership benefit you?

To belong, be valued, and participate fully in what God is doing in and through Crossroads Church.  You will get not only the opportunity to vote on Elder candidates and the annual budget but also other specified decisions because you have determined by applying, being approved, and actively participating that you have a vested interest in this church body helping us to honor God in what we say and do.  You get loving accountability to continue your journey with Jesus Christ because we will also walk that journey alongside you.
