What is Kids hope USA?

KIDS HOPE USA is a national mentoring program that works exclusively through local churches, teaching them to connect their members in one-to-one relationships with at-risk public elementary school children. This growing network of 500+ church-school partnerships in 29 states provides hope and love to over 8,000 children.

KIDS HOPE USA engages . . .

One child, at a public elementary school in your neighborhood—a boy or girl with   emotional, social, and academic needs.

One hour, sixty critical minutes each week for a mentor to nurture a child who is just one person away from believing in herself or himself.

One church, a caring faith community that wants a proven relational ministry to make a difference in the lives of children and families in its neighborhood.

One school, a local public elementary school that welcomes a partner to meet the needs of children who are at risk— in the form of relationships with caring adults.

Why is KIDS HOPE USA needed?

The children: America’s youngest children experience a surprising level of neglect. Due to this, now more than ever, children need adults to come alongside them at that time in their young lives when values are formed, self-esteem is developed, and basic academic and problem-solving skills must be acquired. They need love!

Public elementary schools: Over 50 percent of the requests for KIDS HOPE USA programs come from teachers and principals. They look to the church for help in providing what the children need most—love!

Churches: There are people in every church who would love to reach out to these children if they only knew how. Very often though, churches lack a relational platform from which to launch their members into the lives of neighborhood children and families. They need to share love!

Jefferson Elementary + Washington Elementary + Crossroads Church

Crossroads has partnered with Jefferson Elementary.  We currently have 28 mentors giving one hour a week during the school year to mentor a child.  Our goal for the 2024-2025 school year is to have a total of 30 mentors at Jefferson and an additional 5-10 mentors at Washington Elementary! That’s right! We’re hoping to expand to a second school. Please consider becoming a mentor!
